Quality Island Landscaping Website Redesign and Brand Refresh
Updated: Sep 13
Tools: Figma · WordPress · Elementor · Adobe Illustrator · Canva · Meta Business Suite

Quality Island Landscaping has served the Greater Huntington Area since 2008. As the business continued to grow, its branding and digital presence hadn't kept pace. The existing website hadn't been updated since 2017, social media was limited, and print materials lacked a consistent visual system.
I worked across brand identity, UX/UI, web design, social media, and print to create a more cohesive experience across every customer touchpoint.
The Challenge
QIL had an established reputation and a loyal customer base, but its digital presence wasn't communicating the same level of quality as its services.
The goal wasn't to completely reinvent the company, it was to modernize what already worked while maintaining familiarity for existing customers.
The goals
Modernize the brand without losing recognition
Make the website easier to navigate
Improve accessibility for a wide range of users
Make booking and contacting the company easier
Establish a consistent social media presence
Create a cohesive system for digital and print materials
Results
The project transformed QIL's visual presence from a collection of disconnected materials into a cohesive brand experience.
What changed
2017-era website → modern responsive website
Limited social presence → structured content strategy
Inconsistent materials → unified visual system
Text-heavy experience → clearer information hierarchy
Static brand → flexible system across digital + print
Most importantly, the refresh gave an established local business a digital presence that better reflected the quality, safety, and efficiency at the center of its brand.
The Approach
I approached the project as a brand ecosystem rather than a collection of individual designs. The refreshed visual direction retained QIL's existing green-and-black identity and logo while introducing cleaner typography, stronger hierarchy, and a more contemporary visual language. A one-page brand guideline became the foundation for the website, social media, and physical marketing materials.

Website Redesign
From outdated website to streamlined digital experience.
The new website was designed around one simple idea:
Customers shouldn't have to work hard to find what they need.
I reorganized the information architecture, simplified navigation, strengthened calls to action, and created clearer pathways to services, contact information, and appointment booking. The site was built in WordPress + Elementor, giving the QIL team the flexibility to make future updates themselves.
Accessibility was built into the design
I considered accessibility throughout the interface, including:
Color contrast
Typography and readability
Clear CTA hierarchy
Alt text for imagery
Responsive mobile navigation
Simplified content structure
The result was a website designed to work for both longtime customers familiar with QIL and newer customers discovering the company for the first time. The website is always evolving to maintain brand consistency and modernness.

Building a Consistent Brand System
Rather than changing the logo or completely repositioning the company, I created a refined visual system around the existing identity.
The system included:
Brand
Refined color palette
Typography system
One-page brand guidelines
Digital
Website UI
Social templates
Reels and video graphics
Promotional content
Business cards
QR cards
Vehicle magnets
Lawn signs
Door hangers
Flyers and brochures
These elements allowed the company to look and feel like the same business everywhere customers encountered it.

Social Media Strategy
The website and brand refresh became the foundation for a new social media strategy. Instead of posting simply to stay active, content was organized around QIL's services, expertise, community presence, and company values.
Content pillars included:
01 | Educate
Tips, seasonal information, and landscaping knowledge.
02 | Promote
Services, seasonal offerings, and special promotions.
03 | Community
Local events, partnerships, and Huntington-area content.
04 | Showcase
Projects, services, teams, and behind-the-scenes work.
Content was translated into Reels, carousels, static posts, stories, and video to create a more varied and recognizable feed.
Takeaway
This project reinforced one of my favorite parts of interaction design: good design doesn't always mean starting over.
Sometimes the best solution is understanding what people already recognize, identifying what isn't working, and creating a system that makes the existing experience stronger. Completing Quality Island Landscaping's website redesign and brand refresh was what they needed to help built trust as they expand their clientele in 2026.
